Maelstrom, original mixed media painting by Sara Lamond

Maelstrom is a mixed media work on water colour paper which has been mounted onto a deep cradled birch panel.

This piece was created during a 12 day power outage caused by Hurricane Fiona. "Luckily my studio has large windows and good natural daylight, made even brighter by the many trees that were felled by the storm. It is a heavily layered piece. Somewhat chaotic, with a richness of detail, and some small quiet areas (representative of the storm's eye).
