These earrings feature three concentric circles, each representing one matriarchal generation. Kiju Tekwe’ask embodies the transfer of knowledge and traditions through families. The outermost circle represents a grandmother; this circle is the strongest and carries the most knowledge. The middle circle represents a mother; this circle carries some of the knowledge held by the outer-most ring. The inner-most circle represents a child or grandchild; this circle is held within the middle circle and carries knowledge from both the middle and outer rings.
Gold-plated hoops, size 11 seed beads.
