Reusing and repurposing are so important to the jewellery artisans who work in the Unama’ki Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design. We save all our silver filings and scraps. We then melt them down and pour the molten sterling silver into ingots. They are then forged, rolled again and made into jewellery. The silver used in these earrings was produced this way. The Italian Millefiori beads are repurposed from a necklace I owned when I was 21. The pearls were purchased as a string when I was studying in Mexico.
