Shaylee the Fairy Princess by Molly Ritchie
Shaylee, whose name aptly means "fairy princess of the field" in Gaelic, is a hand-knitted fairy doll by artist Molly Ritchie. In making Shaylee, Ritchie used an autumnal colour palette provided by hand-dyed 'Celtic Colours' yarn from Fleece Artist in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Molly Ritchie makes knitted and crocheted fantasy creatures including fairies, unicorns, dragons and mermaids. She also makes seahorses, crabs, fish and flying pig fridge magnets, as well as crocheted dreamcatchers, mandalas and bracelets. Ritchie is a member of the Baddeck Quilters Guild and her creations have appeared in their shows. Ritchie enjoys working with unusual and hand-dyed yarns.
